In Italy an extraordinary art exhibition of precious items of the Gonzaga collection. In the 1400s the Gonzaga began an exceptional collection of jewellery, semi-precious stones, glass, silverware, naturalia, mirabilia that was renowned all over the world. Standing out among the many precious objects, ancient and modern jewellery they acquired is the Gonzaga Cameo. Of exceptionally high artistic quality, the Cameo is a large piece with a double portrait of an imperial couple.

On loan from the state Hermitage Museum of St Petersburg, the Cameo is making its return to Mantua after four hundred years, is one of the precious masterpieces of the Hermitage Museum.
Besides Cameo, the exhibition shows a variety of precious objects, very finest pieces of jewellery, semi precoius stones, glass, silverware, naturalia and miralibilia.
Curated by Ornella Casazza and held at the Fruttiere at Palazzo Te, the art exhibition a fascinating journey journey through the most sumptuous art collecting undertaken by the Gonzaga. Cultured and enlightened, the lords of Mantua assembled a collection that remains of major interest still today.
